Things to do in Tete, Mozambique.

Hello Dear Beloveds,

I am back with part 3 of the Mozambique trip. If you did not read preceding parts, here they are. Let’s Go To Tete, Mozambique: Part 1 Of 3. and Ola, Cidade de Tete. Part 2.

As per the title, You can use these suggestions on your next trip to Tete or make changes to it, to best suit your needs.

Prior the trip , the idea was to spend a day in Songo, specifically at Cahora Bassa Dam/Lake. The internet interchangeably refers to it as both a lake and Dam. Anywho, the plan was to visit the ‘colossal body of water’, relax, maybe do a little tiger fishing, picnic stuff yeah, some romantic stuff innit. We asked the staff at Hotel Fatima and the guy said, it is such a short distance. And we were ready for it. Wooop! Wooop!

Day prior to going to Cahora Bassa, we decided to go to Café De Rio for a late lunch. This place was on my bucket list for Tete, and it didn’t disappoint one bit. My man ordered I think their signature burger and I ordered a pizza. When the food came, as usual, we shared half-half and Oh My God! one of the best burgers either of us had ever had. They make their own buns, they were not stingy with the cheese, the mushroom sauce on it was perfection. Tjoo! Even just thinking about it makes me hungry. It was a 10 out of 10 and no crumbs were left on the plate. The pizza was good too but if I were to pick again, I would choose the burger any day.

We were there till 8pm. It is such a chilled place just on the banks of the Zambezi River and we were told that from time to time you can spot some wildlife. Sadly, on the day we didn’t see any. They also do sunset boat rides, we only got to find out later the next day, because of language barrier. All in all, I will give them a 9.5 out of 10.

On the drive back to the hotel, we decided to take a detour, let’s drive around the city, that was mistake number 1. We ended up in the arms of the Mozambique police, AGAIN! This time, there was total language barrier, and this guy didn’t look like he came to play and we knew. I told him, I have a Mozambican family member who will act as translator between us.  She talked to him, and this guy let us go. After this we immediately stopped night galivanting and went back to the hotel.

At this point, we threw the whole Cahora Bassa idea out of window and into Zambezi River. Man, I wasn’t looking forward to another police interaction. This weekend was about relaxing and not 24/7 anxiety of dealing with the police.

Instead, we decided to explore another bucket list item, Tete Ferry Sun. On this day we decided to walk to the location, because according to google maps it was very close. Just a 2.6km walk plus we didn’t want any more police drama as we were driving. Therefore walking it was.

What we forgot was, Tete is one of the hottest cities in Mozambique and we were going to feel every step of the walk. We crossed the Samora Machel Bridge, with the beautiful Zambezi River beneath us. We walked some more, but there seemed to be no hope of seeing the Tete Ferry Sun Hotel, or maybe it was due to the heat.

We finally made it, it is such a beautiful spot with a view of the Zambezi River. It gives rich people and the big shots of Tete hang out here type of vibe. Tete Ferry Sun Hotel is part Southern Sun hospitality group and it made sense let’s not forget the prices. Heheheheh our full lodging price at Hotel Fatima, was a one night stay price here.

Anywho, we headed to the restaurant, it is called A Brasa. What we didn’t know was, on Sundays it was all you can eat Buffet day. We arrived pretty early, and we were told to wait till 12 when they finished setting the buffet.

We thought we going to make this Hotel stop this all you can eat buffet, but it was the food that defeated us.HAHAHAHAH.

The idea was to go for specific, like I went for the huge prawns and babedem went for the beef something. The food was nice. Good live music in the background by this babe @nofee_musica_servicos who has such am amazing voice.

Oh, one more thing, as we were waiting for the food, we decided to take photos outside, and we really took some cute photos. In the process, mandem knelt and asked me to marry him. To which I said YES!!! Tunafunga ndoa woop woop!

And with that news, ladies, and gentlemen, see you next week for a detailed proposal, story time.

In the meantime, continue to spread, peace, love happiness and blessings in abundance❤️.
